Diane ti presenta il suo furgone camperizzato It’s a 2023 Ford Ranger 4x4, 170 hp (Diesel) bought new this winter and with which I’ve already done a few road trips. It’s particularly comfortable (you stand upright inside): a static double bed with storage space underneath (you can also fit a third single berth thanks to the bench seat at the front). It has plenty of drawers and storage space, a gas cooker and a sink. It also has a small bathroom with shower, small removable sink and toilet (115 litres of cold or hot water) + an inside table (which can be set up outside) with bench seat and fridge. You’ll also have two folding camping chairs for outside use, plus everything you need for cleaning, cooking, filling the truck with water, plugging into the mains at campsites, etc.
In terms of autonomy, it’s powered by a lithium battery that recharges when you’re on the move, and by a solar panel installed on the roof (so there’s little chance of running out of electricity!).
It’s great fun to drive and has a reversing camera. Its big plus, in my opinion, is that it’s 4x4 (off-road - if you’re careful, of course), which means you can cover the 500 tricky metres between you and the spot of your dreams, which you wouldn’t have been able to do in a caravan, for example!
It doesn’t have any particular problems, apart from the fact that when it’s very hot, if you don’t empty the dirty water tank regularly (and plug the sinks), odours can rise. It also doesn’t yet have an awning. It’s also quite high (2.70m) so you have to take that into account (branches, fences, etc.), but that’s the price you have to pay to be able to stand up inside :)
I’ve had some unforgettable road trip experiences with it, and I’m sure you will too!

We can meet at Le Verdon-sur-Mer at the arrival point of the Royan-Le Verdon ferry, or in Royan if you prefer me to cross. There are many Ter trains that run between Bordeaux and Le Verdon (one-way fare 11 euros). I could also recommend some nice places to stay near the ocean and lots of things to do in the surrounding area, as the Pointe du Médoc is a particularly pretty spot!
